Evaluation Question 3: what did you learn from your audience feedback?
After finishing my video and posting it to YouTube i created an only survey on survey monkey.com. I have done this so that i can analyse them to see what people think of our video. Here are the results.
Q1 Are you male or female?
When analysing the results i found that it was split half and half between male and females who took my survey. This makes it better for us because we get to see equal responses from males and females so we get fair results.
Q2 How old are you?
When i looked at the results for this question all of the people that took the surveys apart from two are in the 16 - 25 group. This is good because that is the our target age group but it would have been god to get a wider range of ages so that we could see what everybody else thought of it.
Q3 Did you enjoy our music video?
As the results show, only one person said that they didnt like he video. I will take this as a success because there is no music or music video that everybody will like so i think to only have one person dislike it is good.
Q4 What part of the music video did you enjoy the most?
In response to this question i received a wide range of answers which is brilliant. this is good because it shows that it is not just one thing in particular that is good in our video but a wide range of things instead, which is what we aimed for. One response that popup a couple times was that they enjoyed the fast pace editing. This is very good to hear because that is something that we tried very hared to do.
Q5 What rating would you give the video out of 10?
I take this response as positive because other than that one person that doesnt like the video and rated it a 3, everybody else rated it 7 and above.
Q6 Do you think the music matches the video?
The results of this are very help full as we have ben given some positive and some negative feedback.
Overall i believe that our video has been well received by our audience which is good to hear. I would of liked to get a wider range of feedback, so if i was to do it again i would put it across to a wider range of ages.

Q6 Do you think the music matches the video?
Everybody said that the music does match the video which is good because it means that our video does make sense to people and that we made it correctly.
Q7 Do you think the video could appear on a music channel?
This question received a mixed response where some said yes, some said no and some said maybe. We could of improved these responses by putting a range of music channels in the question so that people could of suggested what channel our video would have suited.Q8 How do you rate the lip synching in the video?
Everybody who responded to the video said that they rate the lip synching 8 and above which is very good as we tried really hard to make it perfect.Q9 How would you rate the actors performance?
Finally, this is another positive response as only one person didnt give a rating of above 8. This is good to see as we put a lot of effort in to try and make it look realistic.
I also created a wallwisher to get some further audience feedback.

Focus Group - Findings - Additional Research
In the focus group people said that our song reminded them of "Vampire Weekend" and "Scouting for girls" so i have been looking at some of their videos, analysing them and trying to get some ideas.
Firstly i looked at some vampire weekend videos. the good thing about their videos and songs are that they are fast passed and up beat like our song. however the theme behind the song seem to be very different to ours so we will not be able to follow that for some ideas but in the video 'Cousins' there is very good editing to the beat which we would like to do in our video.
Finally i looked at some 'scouting for girls' videos and i noticed that like our song there is a common boy girl theme and usualy showing a problem between them which is also very similar to our song. The differences are that the speed of the songs are very different.
If we were to use both bands when creating our video then we could have good mini narratives and vey fast editing to the beat and hopefully create a very effective music video.

Focus Group - Findings
The idea of our focus group was for us to get some feed back on the song both positive and negative that we could go on to develop into ideas for making our video.
We received some positive feedback from our focus group. A lot of people said that they thought that the song was unique and unusual. Peoples opinion on the song was that it was upbeat, exciting, disorganised, energetic and colourful.

We asked everybody if they could think of any other famous artists; not all were able to think of anything but people said that it is similar to 'the ordinary boys' 'madness' 'green day' 'vampire weekend' and 'scouting for girls'.
The negative feedback that we received was that they couldn't understand the words completely; this could be a problem because it may mean that lip syncing could be hard.
We are going to take a positive step forward and try to incorporate what people have said to build our ideas. We are going to do this by watching a lot of videos by the bands that we have been told are similar to ours. We are then going to use the words that people said in our ideas to develop them further. Finally because people said that they couldn't understand all of the words we are going to make sure that we learn them perfectly so they can be lip synced clearly.
Focus Group
This is the interviews/focus group that we set up so we could further our audience research. The idea of this was to find out what people thought of our chosen and then hopefully we could build ideas on what they said.

Artist Profile - The Big Hurt
The original core of The Big Hurt began On Kent Island, MD in 1998. Early on, Billy Martin, Will Sutton, Tim Johnson and Frank Kanady began to fuse elements of Rock with Reggae, Funk, Acid Jazz, Ska and Punk with Drum-n-Bass, Go Go and Hip Hop Beats. A couple of chance responses to “musician wanted” ads brought veterans Jamie Kelley and Matt Costello to the fold and right away an amazing chemistry took form. Joe Mysko joins as keyboardist in 2007, who not only brings the most experience to the band but also gives many new directions and possibilities. The result is a sound that can be attributed to a wide variety of musical influences, improvisational skill, and a simple love for GOOD MUSIC. Message from the Band: We pride ourselves in creating good vibes and great music that is accessible to a diverse range of people. We have strived over the years to carve out a sound that will be distinctive in the industry and we always try to capture that feeling live - so if you have the opportunity… come see us. Also, please continue to check out our site from time to time for where and when our next performance will be. We are working hard to make a name for ourselves and appreciate every one who makes it out to see us. Spread the word and continued thanks to everyone for the love and support…. Billy Martin, Will Sutton, Tim Johnson, Frank Kanady, Matt Costello, Jamie Kelley and Joe Mysko - The Big Hurt.

group member leaving
We have just recieved some bad news; megan has decide to leave the media studies course. This has left us with three members now so we will have to change our ideas slightly. We should not be majourly affected by this and will still be able to complete our video to a good standard. We wish her the best of luck.
key media conventions
- lip syncing
- editing to the beat of the song
- fast paced edidting
- range of diferent transitions
- instrumental sequance
- seeing the artist
- mini narrative
'We found love' and 'Replay' by Iyaz are videos that conform to the key music video conventions as they contain lip syncing, fast paced editing, editing to the beat of the song, the artist, an instrumental sequence, range of different transitions and a mini narrative.
Some videos do not conform to the regular conventions but they follow there own conventions. For example 'Come to Daddy' by Aphex Twin, this is not a song that follows the usual conventions but it does follow the conventions for its genre. the videos are designed to shock you and even scare you in some cases and purposely made to be weird.
This is another video that conforms to its own type of conventions. These type off videos do normaly still have the artist on show and lipsyncing but a common theme in these videos are normal that they will be set at night or in dark lighting, there will be shots of money and cars and finally they will normally contain a large amount of people and good looking girls
